Volunteer Form — Sammy's Hope

Volunteer orientations are held throughout the year and we would love to see you at one of them! If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to care for and improve the lives of homeless animals until they find their fur-ever home, complete and submit the Volunteer Questionnaire below and tell us more about YOU!

Previous shelter experience not required. Volunteers should:

Be 18 years or older

Be able to handle the physical demands of working in a shelter environment (including but not limited to cleaning, following safety protocols, socializing animals, etc.)

Be able to commit to a minimum of one 3-hour shift per week on a consistent basis.

Maintain your own health insurance

Be able to handle a 35+ pound dog, if your preference is to work with dogs

Volunteer Acknowledgement

I agree to carry out all training and instruction I receive for my safety and better handling of the animals. I am aware that the animals I will work with may have known or unknown medical conditions that could be transferred to people and/or pets. I enter into this agreement with Sammy’s Hope freely with the knowledge of the dangers and hazards involved in handling or being in the presence of any animals. I further release Sammy’s Hope and its staff, board members and advisors from any and all claims and obligations with respect to any injuries or hazards that I may encounter during my volunteer services.

I understand that any volunteer that does not adhere to the policies, procedures, and safety practices of the organization may lose their volunteering privileges. I further understand that Sammy’s Hope reserves the right to revoke any or all volunteer privileges for any concerns outside of the scope of the policies, procedures, and safety precautions if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the organization, its partners, its volunteers, or the public at large. As a condition of my being a volunteer, I agree to respect the decisions of the Sammy’s Hope Board of Directors including all decisions about the health, treatment, training, fostering and adoption of the animals in our care. I further agree as a condition of my being a volunteer, that I will not publicly disparage Sammy’s Hope, its Board, employees or volunteers, including not posting any disparaging or disapproving remarks on any public medium including social media.
